I know it’s been a while since the last nursery update, but I’ve been waiting until it was 100% finished to do the grand reveal! I’m SO excited that it’s finally done!!!!! Minus the little sweet baby, of course : ) I can’t wait to bring her home and show her where she’ll spend the first part of her life. We’ve worked so hard on making it perfect for her. Designing this room has been so much fun for me. There’s not much else I could do over the last 8 months while I wait for her to make her debut, so I put all my excited energy into her nursery.
From the very beginning, I knew I wanted a neutral nursery whether she was a girl or boy. I’d lay awake at night dreaming of how to make it all come together perfectly. Once I settled on her wall color and crib style, the rest all fell into place. From there, I had to paint several pieces of furniture white to match the crib, and buy a chair to sit with her at night. We don’t have a ton of space in that room, so I knew I didn’t want a bulky chair, and rocking makes me dizzy, so one that moves was out too. I found the perfect one at Ikea (you know, the grown up version of Toys r’ Us) : ) Probably the hardest piece of decor to find was the footstool for the chair. It didn’t come with one, and I thought with all the long hours I’d spend there, it was a necessity. But finding a footstool that was a good size for that chair was tough! I looked online for weeks!!!! And finally found it by randomly walking into a Restoration Hardware and asking if they had baby furniture. They’d just launched a line and in their new catalog was this perfect little foot pouf!
You know the whole story about her mobile (if you missed that click here), and the quote sign was something my sister dreamed up. She found the saying, and wanted to make it for her room. We designed and painted it together! And it’s PINK!!!!! I can’t believe I let pink into the nursery, but I really do love it : ) Plus it makes her aunties happy, who were going crazy over the fact there wasn’t really a color or theme to the room. Neutral just wasn’t acceptable to them, haha. One of the other things I really wanted were striped curtains. Big, broad, horizontal stripes. You have no idea how hard those are to find! I’m not joking when I said I went to at least 8 different fabric stores! I had a friend suggest having my mom literally sew stripes of different fabric together for them, since she she’s a expert seamstress…GENUIS! We picked out the fabric, and mom did an amazing job with those.
Pretty much the rest, were just little things we found here and there. Pulling everything together in a perfect little nursery for our little girl : ) So, without further ado, here’s her room!!
