The thing about cherry blossoms is they’re unpredictable. Their expected peak date changed no less than three times on us. When you’re planning a destination engagement session, you kind of don’t have the luxury of not planning. We looked at all the predictions, chose a weekend in the middle of it all and hoped for the best. Well, we only got one tree. BUT we worked that tree and we made Washington DC engagement session magic happen! So worth it! You’ll have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see those.
When it is supposed to be spring, warm and sunny, and instead you get cold, windy, and gloom, one could tend towards the negative side of things. Despite snuggling through their teeth chattering shivers from the wind, you would have never known these two were cold. They didn’t whine or complain, instead they walked all over that city with me and snuggled closer.
We started at their favorite date spot, The Kennedy Center. Which has the most beautiful architecture, and on freezing cold days is completely vacant, who knew! Then we walked towards the Lincoln Memorial and finally to their secret cherry blossom spot that most tourist don’t know about which also happened to be home to that one lonely in bloom tree. My feet were tired but my heart was so full photographing these two.
I’m excited for them to take me on another adventure this fall for their New Jersey wedding! From the sounds of it, it’s going to be quite the affair so be on the look out for those pics this October!
Elizabeth & Nick, thanks for having me to your city! For showing me all around, braving the cold and finding that one tree!! You two were such troopers and I love you for it! Can’t wait to see you again in a few months!!
