Oh my, my, my. How I’ve been WAITING to share this shoot!!! This ladies and gentlemen was an absolute dream come true. I know that’s cliche, but there are no better words to describe it. It was a vision in my head and now here it is come to life. Working with each of these vendors was so much fun. This industry has some really good people in it, and these are the best of the best. Each and every one of these vendors poured their heart into this shoot to make it the perfection that you’ll see below. On top of it all, their hard work made a feature on Grey Likes Weddings a reality. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve submitted there and gotten turned down, because they just have so much good work to share! Getting the email that said “yes, we want this!” will be one I’ll never forget! Ahh!!! I’m still on cloud nine! Please go take a look at it, because it really is a career highlight for me!
Now onto the fun details about how this all came together!
Let me give you some back story about this shoot. It was about a month before our vacation to Boca Grande, Florida earlier this year. I was in communication with Wedding Paper Divas about putting together a shoot, when it hit me that there was a slight possibility this could happen in Florida! It’s a dream of ours to add Boca Grande Fl Wedding Photographer to the resume, so anything that helps us reach that goal we do! And in case you don’t know, a month is a tight window to put together a shoot. All the details that go into it take time, so if I was going to make this happen, the stars would have to align.
Immediately, I started researching. Yes, I wanted to do a shoot on Boca Grande, but I didn’t want to just slap something together. I only wanted to do it if I could work with the best in the area. That’s when I found Inna of Inna Olimpiyuk Events. I fell in love with her work, shot her an email, and within a few hours we had a phone date planned, within a few days the style board going, and somehow this shoot was actually coming to life! We strangely shared the exact same vision for the shoot, so putting it together was a breeze. Things just kept falling into place, one right after the other.
As you may know, I have a fondness for the ladies over at Greenhouse Picker Sisters. We share a heart for the industry, and any time I can support them I do! So I reached out to them with the crazy idea of them letting me FLY their precious inventory down to Florida with me. Not only did they enthusiastically agree, they sent an entire suitcase of china, glassware, linens, flatware, etc with me! We rearranged our carryons so that I could carry that one on instead of checking it (fine china and tossing luggage in an out of an airplane don’t exactly go hand and hand you know), and I safely got their rentals to and from Florida without breaking a single piece! I’m quite proud of myself!
Back to the vision. Inna and I pictured a small, elopement type of thing. With Florida greenery, a beautiful couple and good light. She was to do the florals and styling, which involved dress shopping, model choosing, hair & makeup artist finding, and so much that I can never ever thank her enough for! My job was location. The idea was for me to get down there and find the perfect spot for this shoot. It just so happened that our grandmother’s church had the perfect little Florida garden you’ve ever seen! And while driving around the tiny little island trying to find a location, we found a cake shop! I gave them a call two days before the shoot, and they hopped on board too! This thing really did come together so beautifully!
Two fun facts about this shoot that I can’t help but share…first, our model couple, actually got engage a few weeks prior to the shoot and are getting married this fall AND that’s her actual brand new engagement ring in the photos!!! How fun is that?!! Secondly, I totally renamed them to have my daughter’s and my best friend’s son’s names so the invitations could read Adeline & Bryson (because we’ve already worked out an arranged marriage for those two kids, haha!), and coincidentally I chose my best friend’s anniversary as the fake wedding date! Who knows maybe one day they’ll actually get married on May 20th!!
To close this post out, to all the vendors: thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your gifts for this shoot. You all mean the world to me, and I’m so glad this brought us all together! Love each and every one of you:
