My sister is absolutely gorgeous. Pregnancy has treated her so well. I mean, just look at her! That’s a perfect little belly there! While we were away on vacation for Thanksgiving, we snuck away from the rest of the family for a quick maternity session on the beach and marsh of Pawleys Island, SC. That island holds so many memories for our family. Photographing this part of Carter’s journey on that island was so special.

One of the things I love about Pawleys Island, SC is that is has two distinct looks: the beach and the marsh. The beach is wide, quiet, and filled with little tidal pools that are perfect for dipping your toes into even in November. The beach is lovely, but there is nothing more magical than the marsh at sunset. The reeds in the water all turn golden, the sky turns pink, and it seems that for just a moment everything is right with the world.

We didn’t know until twenty four hours before, if Carter & Shane were even going to be able to come for the holiday. Seeing as she’s nearing the end of her pregnancy, we had to wait for doctor clearance, which they literally gave her the day before! I’m so glad she has been in good health for most of her pregnancy and was given the thumbs up for traveling, because it wouldn’t have been the same without her there! And we wouldn’t have gotten these pictures!

These are just of my dear sister, but coming soon are some of her, her hubby, and her pup that we took here in Raleigh.
