I usually don’t like college campuses for engagement portraits. There’s tons of people, students are always in the way, and it’s hard to get in a rhythm when people are stopping to congratulation you every few minutes. Super sweet, but extremely distracting…BUT…Duke engagement photos break the rules in a good way!
Duke University’s campus is absolutely stunning. The arches and architecture are so regal, and because of it, it’s easy to find some hidden gems where you can escape the hubbub of a college campus. That, and I always recommend Duke engagement photos to happen during the morning. One thing’s for sure about college students…they don’t get up early!
When a university is as sentimental to a couple’s love story as Duke is to Caitlin & Jeremy’s, I always say yes! First and foremost, I want engagement photos to reflect the story of their relationship. No where better does that than Duke’s campus for these two. So, I met them one chilly, early morning in March and we had the most wonderful time exploring campus and photographing this stage of their relationship. We’ll be back here in the fall for their Duke Chapel wedding, and I can’t wait! Hopefully the leaves will be turning instead of budding, and we’ll get to explore the campus again, just this time in wedding attire!
Caitlin & Jeremy, thank you so much for braving the early morning hours and temperature with me. Thanks for letting me into this part of your story, and showing me your version of Duke! Many congrats, and can’t wait to do it all over again in a few months!
