There’s so much I remember about this day. Not only was it beautiful and classy, but it was also full of tradition! This was the first full Jewish wedding that I have photographed, and I loved every second of it! It was such a blast for me to learn about these wedding day traditions and to photograph these special moments for Katrina & Ari. Prior to their ceremony on the lawn, Katrina & Ari signed the Ketubah, the Jewish marriage agreement. But just before the Ketubah signing, Katrina & Ari had a moment to themselves, which was a really sweet and intimate moment for me to capture! With such a busy day, this quiet moment together was really special.
Following the signing of the Ketubah was the Tisch and Bedeken, both of which are ceremonies with close friends and family to honor and celebrate the bride and groom separately. At the end of each of these ceremonies, Ari walked in with his guys from the Tisch to the Bedeken where Katrina waited for him. This is the traditional Jewish veiling ceremony, and it’s the last big moment before everyone lines up to go out to the ceremony. When I think back on their day and all the events we got to the witness, the word I think of is celebratory. There was so much joy, celebration, and excitement from Katrina & Ari’s family and friends as these two joined together as husband and wife!
Their ceremony on the lawn was beautiful. Katrina’s dad walked her down an aisle covered in rose petals, and the James River in the background was gorgeous. Their style was perfectly represented in what everyone wore — Katrina wore a gorgeous Alita Graham dress that was made for her, and Ari totally rocked a cream colored jacket. The white florals and blush bridesmaid dresses were the perfect match too! And speaking of style, when I walked into their reception space, my jaw dropped. Heavy candlelight, amazing blush and white florals, and a monogrammed greenery wall. You have to come see for yourself! It was such an elegant evening, and Jess at Wedding Co. of Williamsburg did such an incredible job helping to make Katrina & Ari’s vision come to life!
