One of the things I love so much about photographing weddings is the importance of family. Wedding days are not only the celebration of the beginning of a new family, as a couple vows their life and commitment to one another. Wedding days are also a celebration of the people and family that came before the couple. These days highlight the memories and legacy of parents and grandparents that came before. The wedding day is a beautiful time to recognize that the couple is not only starting their own legacy, but they are also carrying on the legacy of their families.
We arrived the day of Anna & Bobby’s wedding in Louisburg, NC on property that Anna’s parents own. The land really was gorgeous — hills, fields, and a pond. Anna & Bobby said their vows outside by the pond under an arbor that her dad built! You have to see it because I could not believe that he built it! Anna and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle barefoot. Complete with boho flower crowns and Show Me Your Mumu bridesmaid dresses, their day was sunny and happy in every way.
Speaking of dresses, let’s talk about Anna’s dress! The skirt of her dress was actually part of her mom’s wedding dress when her parents got married. Anna found the lace top with the amazing bell sleeves separately, and I love that she made it her own while also carrying on the legacy of her mom. It was such a special way to honor her family! Anna’s flower girls’ dresses were also dresses that got passed down through the family. The girls were absolutely adorable with their boots and flower crowns! And the sweetness keeps going — Anna wore a blue ring that was the ring her dad originally proposed to her mom with back when they got married! So, so thoughtful.
