This unique bridal shoot was the best. Like seriously, the absolute best. It reminded me why it’s so important to do shoots for myself. I get to be creative, have zero time restrictions, and just shoot for fun! It’s so refreshing and as hard as it is to fit shoots like this into busy season sometimes (or life in general), I always find that it’s worth the effort for the boost of creative energy they give me when I need it most.
This one in particular was the creative idea of the bridal salon owners! They’ve had this unique bridal shoot vision that involved the fair for a while. When they brought the idea to me, I immediately was on board. We had one date. Literally one that was free for us and them, and coincided with the 10 days the NC State fair runs. So we prayed for good weather and went for it. And it almost didn’t happen! We had some last minute hiccups, and by last minute I literally mean an hour before the shoot, but we worked around those and pushed through anyways. I’ll spare you all the details, but let’s just say we’re very thankful the model is good at hair & makeup because she ended up putting her look together herself!
Looking back on this and it’s one I’m really, really proud of. I was able to photograph it all on film and am so happy with the results. The colors popped and we really achieved the vision we’d had in our heads!! So thankful we pulled this one off!
Alexia’s & Lana Addison, thank you for asking me! I hope we do another project like this soon, because it was so very fun!! Maddie, thanks for braving the super early morning and being willing to do your own hair and makeup. You were an absolute dream to photograph!!!
