I might have literally jumped for joy when I got Priscilla’s text telling me she was expecting. I’m being completely honest when I say I never thought the day would come. Over the years, she’s said she didn’t plan on having kids. She was happy with it being just her and her husband, and with the life they’d created. I completely understood and supported her decision, but secretly hoped she’d change her mind.
She’s always been so great with Ada, such a natural, and I knew she’d be a great mom if she ever decided to have children. Over the last year, I’ve noticed that little by little she was starting to warm up to the idea. She was saying things like maybe one day, or we haven’t closed that door completely, instead of never and no. Each time we talked about it, I could see a tiny little flicker of hope. Don’t get me wrong, I support anyone’s decision not to have children. It’s not for everyone! So why then, was I so hopeful that she’d have kids? Because I knew it would change her life!
That is why I jumped for joy, cried happy tears and squealed at the top of my lungs. Her life is about to be changed in a way she never knew she needed. I feel this way for each of my friends who tells me their happy news. Life is never going to be the same again, in the best way possible.
If you don’t know Priscilla, she’s the brain behind Orangerie Events. In true wedding planner style, she crafted a gorgeous Valentine’s inspired scene to announce her big news. She pulled together some of my favorite vendors for this unique pregnancy announcement, and gave me the honor of photographing it. What a fun way to announce the best news of your life!!! I love that she put the time and energy into this. It was so special to be part of it!
Priscilla, from the deepest depths of my heart, congratulations!!! I am so, so, so very happy for you!!! Thank you for letting me help you announce your news to the world!
