Dunlaps Built

New grey two story M/I home

It feels SO good to be done and in our new home. Slightly surreal, and crazy how quickly it felt like home. We closed Friday, moved Saturday and by Sunday when we went back to our old house to pick up a few more things, we felt like we were visiting some one else’s house.

We’re slowly but surely unpacking and creating a new normal. One that includes more family meal times, nightly walks, and making memories together. I’m quickly realizing that Wake Forest isn’t such a bad place to live. Maybe I’ll like it here after all.

One of the things I’ve discovered is moving into a new house doesn’t mean it’s perfect. The walls need painting, we have fans and lighting fixtures to install, a fence needs to be put it, and we desperately need curtains downstairs for privacy. I’m one of those people that wants it all done and wants it done now. I have to keep reminding myself it’s going to take time, and Kyle keeps reminding me we aren’t made of money : )

Painting is my biggest stressor right now. We got it quoted and it’s more than either of us are comfortable spending, so we’ve decided to do it on our own. The problem: a 13 month old crazy person. There’s no way we’ll be able to get anything done while she’s awake, so it’s going to have to happen during naps and after bedtime. Which means it’s going to take FOREVER, but such is life these days. For now, I’ll focus on getting the rest of the house unpacked and settling on a desk for my new office.

Speaking of which, we don’t have internet. Apparently they don’t lay internet cables when they lay the rest of the wiring for the neighborhood, so we have to wait a few more weeks until they install those. I’m not sure I’m supposed to, but I’ve been borrowing the internet at our clubhouse to answer emails and blog. So if I seem slow to respond for the next few weeks, that’s why!

In the meantime, we wanted to share our new house with you. We snapped a few pics right after closing before we moved anything into it. It won’t be long before these walls won’t be bare any more, and it definitely didn’t take long for the floor to be covered with toys. We have a goal of doing more entertaining in the new space, so maybe you’ll get to come see it in person soon!
