I’ve had this vision for years. I pictured scenes full of earthy goodness, darker color palettes, almost fairy like feel to the bride, and lots and lots of trees. I saw a couple eloping in the woods, snuggled under a tree saying their vows and committing to each other forever. I think deep down I have this inner desire to be an elopement photographer. Doesn’t that sound fun???! But back to this vision, it was just that, a dream I had floating up there in my head. I get them sometimes, but while the vision is clear to me, I can have a hard time bringing it to life.
About this time last year my friend Nicole of Premier Party Planners, shared a post about a new venue she’d just discovered on Facebook. Instantly, I knew that venue would be perfect for bringing this vision to life. I reached out to Nicole, and she immediately jumped on board! We planned a date for a few days later, met for lunch, babies and all, and planned this shoot for late last summer. I shared the thoughts I had floating in my head, and she was just as enthusiastic about them as I was!
From there, she started working her magic. Pulling together an inspiration board that literally looked like she’d pulled the ideas out of my imagination. We (mainly she) started putting together a dream team of vendors, sharing our ideas with them as we went and each of them eagerly wanting in on the fun! We were all set for a date in August, but come July were still without the perfect couple. That’s when our makeup artist, Michelle Clark, spoke up that she had the perfect couple.
Perfect was an understatement! With some shoots it doesn’t really matter who your models are, as it’s more about the design aspect of the shoot. This one, the couple was an integral part of the design. How can you have an elopement without a couple?! Elizabeth & Micah made this shoot! Fun fact: they actually did get married last year only a few months after this shoot!!! We joked that we could pull a pastor in quickly and really let them elope! Even if they were only fake marrying each other that day, their love was real, and it was fun to document it in this shoot for them.
You’re probably wondering why I’ve waited 7 months to share this dream styled shoot of mine. Well, we’ve been waiting…for it to get featured on Wedding Chicks!!! Such a dream come true to shoot this woods elopement, and have it featured on one of the biggest wedding blogs in the country!
To this whole team of vendors, thank you so much for making this dream come to life. You all mean so much to me, and it was amazing doing this with you. I think we should definitely plan a reprise for this year, anyone in?!!!
