You know how we always say we feel like part of your family? That photographing all of you is so much more than taking your pictures. It’s stepping into your lives in a very special way. We mean every single word of that in more ways than we can even express. Some people get it and let us in to their lives. This family has done just that. In all my years as a NC Film Newborn Photographer, this is one of the most special newborn sessions I’ve ever photographed.

This couple let us into their lives in such a beautiful and emotional way. You see, two years ago they felt led to adopt. This mom came to me over email and said they’re not ready to share the news with the world but wanted to share it with us (and yes we cried all the happy tears), and then they asked Carter to take their adoption announcement photos. We decided not to share those here on the blog because those were theirs to share, but trust me they were the sweetest.

After the photos, it became a waiting game for them. Every few months she’d send us an update on where they are in the process and to please continue praying. Until a few months ago, when she sent the “we got matched!” email. Carter & I sat here at my desk reading that through tear-filled eyes so overjoyed that these two finally get to become parents! We prayed that it would all go as hoped, that they’d get to bring this little boy they loved years ago home with them. We waited for the “he’s here” email and then the follow up “he’s ours” and rejoiced in their news.

And then came time to photograph him. Walking into their home you can feel the love. This little boy is so blessed to be raised by them. The love is deep and fierce and so very real. I can’t wait to watch him grow, and watch these two build the family they’ve always dreamed of!
