I may be stating the obvious, but we believe in documenting your life. Moments are fleeting. I love progress, growth and change, but I love that photography freezes the here and now to help us remember. It shows us who we were and where we’ve come from. The only way to get right now back is through an image. That is what drives me to do what I do.

I capture other people’s moments all the time, but it’s hard to capture my own. Especially, if I want to be in them. So we followed our own advice and had family portraits taken by one of our favorite local FILM photographers Graham Terhune. We got up at 4AM, drove to a field in Chapel Hill for sunrise, and now forever have these moments frozen in time of who we were on the morning of August 21st. It’s only been a month, and Ada’s already changed so much in that time. She’s full-on walking, no hands needed, has three teeth now, and has grown at least an inch since all of a sudden her pants are way too short.

If it wasn’t for Graham, Ada at 1 would be forever gone. He has such a gift, and we can never thank him enough for these precious memories (and for making me seriously debate learning the art of film!). This is our family to a t. Somehow he captured all my love in these images, and for that, I will be forever grateful. My heart is my family, and now I have my heart in images to look at every single day. Thank you Graham. Thank you so, so much.
